Whats Floatation?


The stresses of modern life can leave us vulnerable to physical and emotional conditions that can have detrimental effects on our well-being. With three sessions of deeply relaxing floatation therapy – also known as sensory deprivation – you can experience the full benefits of meditative floating, expand mental awareness and increase the effectiveness of your immune system - all while doing absolutely nothing!
This water contains over 450 kilograms of Epsom salt, which provides you the necessary density to float without any kind of effort. It’s as if you levitated, in the absence of gravity.
While you float, you will release yourself from your sense of touch. Your body, now free from the force of gravity, does not distinguish water temperature from air temperature. All the visual and hearing stimuli are eliminated so that in the total absence of senses you can achieve a state of absolute rest, which takes you into a unique experience of peace and tranquility.
In these conditions, thoughts and concerns will slowly go away and the brain becomes working in theta brainwaves.
This is the brain frequency that the Buddhist monks achieve after many years of practice and meditation.
All muscles relax and the tensions disappear.
The physical and mental fatigue is replaced by the restoration of energy, and stress gives place to well-being. It is the biggest on the market at 8ft 6″ long by 5ft 6″ wide with lots of space to maneuver around meaning you do not feel claustrophobic and you can get in and out whenever you like. You control the opening of the pod and even the light, to ensure your experience is right for you. Our pod has an under-body heater to maintain a constant temperature during your float so that you don’t get cool during your float sessions. There are around 10 minutes of music to help you relax, then the music resumes 5 minutes before the end. We control the music from reception and there is a range of tracks available. If you prefer to float without music, just tell us beforehand.




Contra-indications


While some reports have found that some people with clinical depression can experience unpredictable effects, other people with depression have reported major benefits from regular floating. You are advised to discuss floatation with your clinician and carefully consider his or her advice. Patients with open wounds or incontinence are unsuitable candidates. Patients with severe hypertension may experience such drastic reduction in blood pressure as to faint but when this is controlled by a drug regimen, there is little risk. Similarly, there is little risk for controlled epileptic patients, but it is recommended to have a suitable helper present during the float session.




What to expect?


For a floatation session, you only have to make a booking, set aside just over an hour of your day for you and we’ll take care of the rest.
We have towels, shower gel and shampoo available for you to use before and after the floating session.
When entering the floatation tank you will feel the comforting touch of water on your skin at your own body temperature.
After the session, if you wish to combine the floatation with another Float In service you can wear a robe and move straight to the corresponding room. If you prefer, you can relax a little more in the relaxation room, where you will have some tea.
You can also make a more practical use of the float tank and, after the session, return promptly to your routine, now without stress, relaxed and revitalized.
